Ty Simpson injury update: Alabama QB leaves Rose Bowl game in CFP quarterfinal

Alabama Football will have to end his disappointing journey to Rose Bowl College Football Playoff Quarterfinal without starting quarterback Ty Simpson.

Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer pulled Simpson in the third quarter for what appeared to be a lingering injury following a first-half hit he took on the end of a quarterback keep that resulted in a fumble down the field.

Replacement Austin Mack replaced himstarting with the second set of the third trimester.

Before being benched, Simpson had difficulty operating Alabamaagainst the Indiana offense as he completed 12 of 16 passes for 67 yards and a fumble.

Here’s the latest on Simpson’s injury:

Ty Simpson injury update

Alabama pulled Simpson after the Crimson Tide’s first drive of the second half of the Rose Bowl due to injury.

Shortly after Mack took the field with the Alabama offense, Kris Budden of ESPN reported that DeBoer made the “coaching decision” to bench Simpson because he was still banged up by a hit he took in the first half on a quarterback keeper.

Budden also reported that Simpson received treatment and care from members of the Alabama medical staff during halftime at the Rose Bowl.
