CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Independence football team is doing well on the field, winning its last six games, but it’s just as focused off the field on the topic of sexual assault and rape culture.
The team works with an organization called βRethinkβ which aims to educate young men about respect and consent.
Players say it starts with them.
βA lot of people focus on this locker room talk and I can tell you our locker room doesn’t talk like that,β player Bilal Duckett said.
Players could get involved by helping teach lessons in the future.

The current goal is set at $5,000.
