Texas A&M’s The 2025 football season ended at the hands of Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff, as the Aggie offense failed to achieve a touchdown for the first time all season, falling to the Hurricanes 10-3, and will now head into the offseason with more questions only answers in the midst of future departures.

No, the sky is not falling, and aside from the back-to-back losses to end the year, this season has been a success for the head coach. Mike Elkowho led the Aggies to the CFP for the first time in program history, while breaking down several long-standing barriers that kept Texas A&M from competing for a playoff spot late in recent months.

With plenty of movement on the coaching staff, Elko lost one of its top recruiters in defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson, who will follow Collin Klein to Kansas State and serve as the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator next season.

However, Elko moved quickly after defensive line coach Sean Spencer left for a side job with Virginia Tech, bringing in the former assistant head coach. Elie Robinson as the team’s new co-defensive coordinator and D-line coach. Robinson will immediately be tasked with recruiting defensive linemen from the transfer portal, while offensive line coach Adam Cushing looks to replace the two bookend tackles.

However, Elko and Cushing will also be looking for a starting-level guard, as starting right guard Ar’maj Reed-Adams is no longer eligible and is headed to the NFL Draft. On Tuesday, former Texas A&M commit and LSU starting left guard Coen Echols announced he would be entering the transfer portal and should be a target for the Aggies in the future.

During the 2025 season, Echols plays 583 snaps, primarily at left guard, while earning over 80 pass protection grades against Ole Miss, Alabama and Arkansas, and over 60 run blocking grades against South Carolina, Texas A&M and Western Kentucky. Standing at 6’4″ and 315 pounds, Texas A&M’s coaching staff knows his skill set and could become an immediate plug-and-play option next season.
