San Francisco tight end George Kittle didn’t seem too concerned about his ankle injury after Monday night’s win over the Colts, but he didn’t like the way he was tackled during the game or the quality of the field in Indianapolis he played on.
“My level of concern? I don’t think it’s a sprained ankle, so we’ll take it one day at a time and go from there,” Kittle said.

Kittle said he suffered an injury following what he thought was an illegal hip tackle in the second quarter. He also said the artificial turf at Lucas Oil Stadium was a problem.
“It happened in the second quarter,” Kittle said. “I feel like I lost my hip, ankle got stuck in the grass or turf, cork turf, really weird terrain. I tried to tape it up, got in in the third quarter, and it really got worse from there. If I can’t run real fast or plant, I think it’s better to have other tight ends in there to make plays.”
Kittle caught seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, including two catches for 37 yards in the third quarter, so he was still capable of playing at a high level after suffering an injury. That would seem to be good news for Kittle’s availability Sunday against the Bears.
