Indiana fever Star Lexie Hull witnessed how Kelsey Mitchell carried the team after Caitlin Clarkinjury during the 2025 season.

Clark only played in 13 games last campaign due to a groin injury. As a result, guard Kelsey Mitchell was tasked with carrying the majority of Indiana’s offensive load, and she succeeded, averaging 20.2 points on 45.6 percent shooting — while playing in all 44 regular-season games.

With Mitchell leading the way, Indiana finished with a 24-20 record, good for sixth place in the standings. WNBA classification. They qualified for the playoffs and exceeded expectations by reaching the semifinals.

Mitchell gave it his all for the fever, to the point where his body literally gave up. As a reminder, during the fifth game of the WNBA semi-finals against the The Aces of Las Vegasthe 30-year veteran was forced to leave after suffering from rhabdomyolysisa medical condition in which one’s “muscles have stopped producing and reached maximum capacity.”

Hull has nothing but respect and admiration for Mitchell, especially after the sacrifice she made to carry the Fever. The former Stanford star shared this during media day at Unrivaled, noting that Mitchell is the “ultimate teammate.”

“She pushed her body and herself to the absolute limits and put everything she had on the line for us,” Hull explained via Fever.

“She led the way by showing up every day and really doing whatever the team needed. She’s invested so much in the Fever franchise and she’s been there a long time and still believes in the process.”

Hull knows Mitchell would have wanted to finish her season better instead of getting injured, but regardless, she is proud of herself and what she accomplished.

Both Hull and Mitchell will star in Unrivaled, which debuts January 5. The former will return to her former team, Rose BC, while the latter will play her first season in the 3-on-3 tournament for the new team, Hive BC.

Although they won’t be on the same side this time around, both players will look to make an impact in the rookie league, just like they did in the WNBA with the Fever.
