Telemundo has revealed its theme music for coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, composed and produced by the award-winning Yoav Goren.
The theme song, “Sueño de Campeones” (see video below), was recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. Meaning “Champions Dream” in English, the song is part of a larger musical ensemble by the composer. This will be part of Telemundo’s coverage of the World Cup featuring 32 teams and a total of 64 matches, played across 12 venues in Russia.
The music package draws inspiration from the passion and beauty of the game while capturing the character and grandeur of the World Cup. “Sueño de Campeones” is inherently heroic and epic, as are the stories of the teams and players who qualify for a World Cup, and in particular the journey and resilience of the Latin American countries that represent Telemundo’s target audience. The instrumentation begins acoustically with guitar and violins and eventually evolves into a full orchestration, reflecting a player’s journey from his hometown to the biggest stadiums and the pinnacle of football, the World Cup.
Telemundo Deportes, a leading provider of Spanish-language sports content in the United States, hosts two of the most popular sporting events in the world: the FIFA World Cup through 2026 and the Summer Olympics through 2032. It is also the home of the FIFA Club World Cup through at least 2018. matches and the Premier League.
