While noting that the news is “ill-timed” as RFK Racing and the NASCAR community are still coming to terms with the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Greg Biffle and six othersthe team confirmed that Brad Keselowski suffered a broken leg on Thursday.
Keselowski, who drives the No. 6 Ford for RFK Racing and is a co-owner of the racing team, was skiing with his family when the accident occurred. He underwent surgery on the injured leg and hopes to make a full recovery before the 2026 season.

“First of all, our hearts remain heavy with the news of yesterday’s tragic events,” the team said in a statement. “The RFK Racing family, as well as the NASCAR community as a whole, continue to keep the loved ones of the Biffle family and everyone involved in our thoughts.
“While it is untimely, we feel that, in the interest of transparency, we agree with RFK Racing co-owner and driver Brad Keselowski who broke his leg while on a ski trip with his family on Thursday. Keselowski successfully completed surgery and doctors expect a quick and full recovery.”
Keselowski, who won the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series championship with Penske, is 41 years old. The veteran driver finished the 2025 season 20th in the championship standings and nearly won the season finale at Phoenix, finishing just behind Ryan Blaney.

He posted a message on social media with photos from the hospital room and said in a statement provided by RFK Racing:
“I am grateful for the medical team who took great care of me and for the support system around me. My attention is now fully focused on recovery. I am motivated to get back to full strength as quickly as possible and will work tirelessly to be ready for Daytona.”
The incident occurred the same day as the fatal plane crash involving Biffle, and Keselowski said of the former Roush star’s death: “I broke my leg and was going to have surgery when the tragic plane crash happened to Greg and his family. I’m not really sure what words to say, so I’ll share a story:

“I called Greg a few years ago to tell him that my friend really needed a fun trip after losing a family member. Can we all go ride his UTVs together to show my friend a good time? Without missing a beat, he made all the plans and we had a great trip to the sand dunes, my friend was all smiles. This trip means so much more now…this is my favorite Greg story, I’m going to miss you and your family. #GodSpeed”
