Reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson, who also co-owns the High Limit Sprint Car Series alongside his brother-in-law Brad Sweet and streamer FloSports, says he doesn’t expect a playoff format to come to their winged division anytime soon.

The topic was addressed by series announcers Chase Raudman and Tony La Porta on the series’ official podcast.

“I hope, and I am almost certain, that this Never happen in sprint car racing,” Larson said on the High Limit Chamber podcast. “Even the late playoffs that they have, I think, are better than what we have in NASCAR, but it’s still not like, I don’t know. It’s not fair. Or not the fairest way. To me, it doesn’t even really add excitement to a dirt season.”

“So, no. No, there won’t be any playoffs or winner-takes-all type of thing. I hope that even in NASCAR, I hope we’re done with winner-takes-all, it seems. So, yeah, the fans don’t have to worry about that. I don’t want to continue that because I’m going to get in trouble talking.”

Even the Late Model playoffs he was talking about, the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Chase, were canceled this weekend, with that division returning to a full-season points format after three seasons with an evolving format that proved generally unpopular.
