Beyond their on-field exploits, many footballers increase their income through support and partnerships. Realizing the enormous reach and power of football players, major companies are vying to secure sponsorship deals with them. Sportswear endorsements, sponsorship of specific pieces of equipment, and even deals with non-sports-related companies are all examples of sponsorship deals. Particularly marketable players may be able to supplement their salaries through sponsorship deals.

Even though clubs bear the majority of transfer fees, star players can often negotiate a discount as part of their contract. Winnings from high-profile moves can have a dramatic effect on a player’s salary.
