Will Trump rename football? – The world of spectators

On the first anniversary of Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination assassination attempt, President Trump celebrated on stage with Chelsea FC after winning the FIFA Club World Cup at Giants Stadium. No one dancing around the trophy looked happier than Trump, who looked like an old forward who had rushed into the locker room to change into a blue suit and red tie.

“I knew he would be there, but I didn’t know he would be on the stand when we lifted the trophy. I was a bit confused,” said Chelsea FC star Cole Palmer. Above all, Donald Trump is celebrating his victory, and it was a big victory, complete with a shower of confetti. Plus, one can’t ignore the fact that on that day, of all days, Trump was just happy to be alive, the biggest victory of all.

The President’s Box in East Rutherford was like an episode of Succession come to life. Alongside her and Melania were several of Trump’s siblings and spouses, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Trump’s top attorney general Pam Bondi, cabinet secretaries Kristi Noem and Sean Duffy, Trump’s powerful fixer Boris Epshteyn, Tom Brady, Rupert Murdoch and ATN News head Tom Wambgans. If you’re a big winner in life, you dined at the Trump buffet on Sunday.

But he’s also clearly setting the stage for the United States’ presentation at the 2026 World Cup. He even joked with a reporter who asked him if he would issue an executive order officially renaming soccer “soccer” in the United States. “I think we can do it,” Trump said.

He was practically hooting in a interview with global sports network DAZN. The 2026 World Cup in North America will be the best, so big that even Mexico and Canada will host it. But we all know who the world will really be watching. “(The United States) is doing very well on the other stage, on the political stage and on the financial stage,” Trump said. “I was just in Saudi Arabia, I was in Qatar, I was in the United Arab Emirates. Here we have Qatar, you know, its big presence, but you have all the leaders and then you look at NATO, all the leaders said, ‘A year ago your country was dead, and now you have the hottest country in the world.’ a hot country. It’s really hot. And I think football will be hot here too.

Trump also said that Pele was his favorite football player of all time, the “GOAT,” which is a bit of a dated reference, but if someone had seen Willie Mays or Hank Aaron play and made the same claim about baseball, you wouldn’t doubt it, so it’s not a bad choice. He also declared, in Invictus fashion, that the 2026 World Cup would help bring peace to the world.

“(Sport) is about unity, a lot of meeting people, a lot of love between countries. I guess it’s probably the most international sport, so it can really bring the world together,” he told DAZN.

It’s really a big, beautiful game. The United States, as we all know, has the best World Cups because it’s really hot right now. The early favorites to win the Cup are reigning champions Spain, while France, the United Kingdom and Brazil also look strong. But no matter who is hoisting the trophy in New Jersey next summer, you can rest assured that Donald Trump will be nearby, looking like the biggest winner of them all.
