CM Punk Reveals Wrigley Field Dream Match and MLB Scheduling Problem

CM Punk was a guest on a recent episode of Mostly Sports and he discussed various topics with Mark Titus and Brandon Walker. During the interview, Punk revealed the one thing he has yet to accomplish in professional wrestling and it makes for a distinctly Chicago feel for the Windy City native.

Chicago’s Last Conquest

After being asked what was left to conquer in Chicago, Punk made it clear he had a major venue in mind. “Wrigley Field. Wrestle at Wrigley Field,” Punk said. “I’m putting this one out into the universe right now. Wrigley executives are chomping at the bit, they want a WWE show.”

THE current heavyweight champion of the world explained that he had already accomplished everything else in his hometown. “I mean, I sold every house with a roof in Chicago,” he said. “So now I have to go to these outdoor places. And Wrigley to me is the church. There’s a little bit of wrestling history. There have been matches there.”

Here is the full interview.

WWE and MLB’s Scheduling Problem

After being asked about the logistics involved in hosting an event at Wrigley Field, Punk was quick to point the finger at Major League Baseball. “The problem, and I’ll throw Major League Baseball under the bus, is they won’t release the schedule until they want to, so we can’t get going and look at dates and that kind of thing,” Punk explained.

He continued: “Yes, Wrigley has concerts in the summer, but they won’t give us enough of a head start to figure out the dates. That’s why I kinda wanted the Dodgers to win the World Series to solidify a lockout in 2027. I’m 100% selfish, if there’s no baseball in 2027, that means I’m selling Wrigley Field.”

WWE is already exploring premium live events at outdoor baseball stadiums. On Saturday November 29, Survivor Series War Games comes to Petco Park in San Diego, California. This event will be a sort of homecoming for Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio.

If WWE and Major League Baseball can get on the same page, you’d have to think this is something that could happen in 2026. There’s no doubt the promotion would bring in a lot of money for the event. Elimination Chamber is scheduled for the United Center in Chicago in February 2026.
