Texas A&M Quarterback Marcel Reed still has at least one game remaining in the 2025 season, with his Aggies team set to host Miami in the first round of College Football Playoffs on Saturday December 20.

As for the 2026 season, Reed has no plans to be anywhere other than his current home.

In an appearance on Outta Pocket with RGIII — a podcast hosted by former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and his wife, Grete — Reed said he will return to Texas A&M next year.

“I’ll be back,” Reed said. “I’ll come back.”

Reed is a redshirt sophomore, which gives him two years of college eligibility remaining, but also makes him eligible to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Reed is not widely considered a surefire NFL prospect and would not have been among the top quarterbacks in the 2026 draft, a group that includes the likes of Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, Oregon’s Dante Moore and Alabama’s Ty Simpson.

In his first full season as a starter, Reed totaled 2,932 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while helping Texas A&M to an 11-1 record, the program’s most regular-season wins since 1992. Reed also totaled 466 yards and six touchdowns, making him one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the sport.

“I think I’m one of the best players in the country” Reed said in the interview. This team helped me a lot. We have guys around me who helped me get to this point. The record shows it. Regardless of the position of the teams we’ve played, it’s hard to win games in the SEC. It’s difficult to win 11 games in a row. A lot of people don’t do that. That’s why I have so much respect for Fernando and (Ohio State quarterback) Julian (Sayin). They do things that a lot of teams can’t do.

Although Reed will return, he won’t do so under Texas A&M offensive coordinator Collin Klein, who takes over as head coach at Kansas State, his alma mater.
