PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms with right-hander Michael Soroka on a one-year contract worth $7.5 million, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the deal is pending a physical.

Soroka, 28, should bolster the back end of the D-backs’ starting rotation. He was 3-8 with a 4.52 ERA last season, starting 16 games for the Washington Nationals before being traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he pitched primarily out of the bullpen.
A 2019 All-Star with the Atlanta Braves, Soroka was one of the best young pitchers in the game, finishing with a 13-4 record and a 2.68 ERA this season. But he tore his right Achilles tendon twice – once in 2020 and again in 2021 – which kept him from playing for more than two full seasons.
