Groundbreaking Ceremony for Magical Bridge Playground
A groundbreaking ceremony for the Magical Bridge Playground at Rengstorff Park is planned for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29.
The proposal to build a playground – designed to be accessible to people of all ages, including people with disabilities – dates back to 2017 and the project has since been confronted delays, cost increases and fundraising difficulties.
The project is a joint effort between the City of Mountain View and the Magical Bridge Foundation, a Palo Alto-based nonprofit that has built inclusive playgrounds in various local communities, including Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and Redwood City .
The groundbreaking ceremony is open to the public and will feature local dignitaries speaking about the history of the project, as well as the “early excavation” ceremony, according to the city.
The event will be held at Rengstorff Park, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., between the community center parking lot and the tennis courts. As the ceremony takes place on a construction site, closed, comfortable shoes are recommended.
Write a letter to Santa – and get a response
Children in Mountain View can once again write to Santa this holiday season and receive a letter in return, thanks to the annual “Letters to Santa” program hosted by the City of Mountain View.
Children can submit their letters using a mailbox in the lobby of the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave., or by mailing them to: City of Mountain View Recreation Division, c/o Santa Claus, PO box 7540, Mountain View, CA. 94039.
Letters will be accepted until Friday, December 8.
The Waldorf school will host the winter fair
Peninsula Waldorf School is scheduled to host its 37th annual Winter Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 2.
The event will feature a variety of activities including wreath making, beeswax candle making and creating Christmas gifts from natural materials. There will also be holiday-themed children’s games, a puppet show and a “Gnome Adventure,” described in a school press release as “a whimsical journey through seasonal vignettes where children discover gnomes delighting in the joys of winter, spring, summer. , and falls.”
Admission to the Winter Fair is free, but paid tickets are required for activities.
Food trucks and a holiday boutique with more than 10,000 items for sale will also be available. There will be adults-only shopping hours for the store on Friday, December 1, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
