According to the report, this is partly due to “vague salary range projections.” The WNBPA reportedly has concerns about the “math” of the league. The WNBA proposed an average salary of $500,000. But with a proposed salary cap of $5 million per team and 12 players, the numbers don’t add up. The salary cap would increase throughout the CBA and would be directly tied to the league’s revenue growth each year. Specific details of revenue sharing were not disclosed.

USA TODAY Sports has reached out to the WNBA for comment.
The league’s latest offer to the players’ association includes a guaranteed maximum base salary of $1 million, with the possibility of win over $1.2 million in conjunction with projected revenue sharing. The WNBA’s offer increases the minimum player salary to more than $225,000 and the average salary to $500,000, up from $220,000 and $460,000 respectively in the WNBA’s previous proposal on November 18.

MORE WNBA: Phoenix Mercury unveils new logo to celebrate its 30th anniversarySports at reception also reports that the league’s latest offer no longer includes team housing. Teams currently provide housing to roster players during the regular season and playoffs. If a player chooses not to stay in team-provided housing, they receive a monthly stipend. A change in housing requirements would also impact players on temporary or short-term contracts, who remain with a team for a minimum period of time.
The league also reportedly proposed increasing the length of the season, which could include an earlier start date. If the date is moved forward, it could interfere with the end of the women’s college basketball season, the WNBA Draft and other leagues like Unrivaled And Project B. The 2025 WNBA season began on May 16 with training camp opening on April 28. (The current CBA technically allows training camp to begin as early as April 1 but no more than 30 days before the start of the season.)
