The WNBA has reportedly made a new offer to the WNBPA as the league seeks to reach a new collective bargaining agreement before the end of November.

If the offer is accepted, it would pave the way for a historic increase in player salaries and a chance for WNBA players to participate in revenue sharing at a level not seen in the league’s 29-year history.

The parties have 10 days to reach an agreement before the 2020 collective bargaining agreement expires, which could result in a damaging work stoppage amid the WNBA’s explosive financial growth this decade. This growth has been driven in part by young stars like Paige Bueckers, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark – all of whom have entered the league in just the last two seasons.

Clark reportedly in line for millions of dollars

Clark, the first choice of Indiana fever during the 2024 draft, has been credited with bringing millions of new viewers to the WNBA. Clark, already a two-time All-Star, has a string of endorsement deals that have made her a millionaire, some dating back to her record-breaking college career at the University of Iowa.

However, Clark’s WNBA salary pales in comparison to what she can earn with Nike, State Farm and others.

Two years into his league-standard four-year rookie contract, Clark earned around $154,000 in the WNBA. She is expected to earn an additional $183,455 in 2026 and 2027 before being eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2027.

The WNBA’s CBA proposal calls for a league maximum salary north of $1.1 million starting in 2026 — and it would increase each year, based on league revenue.

That means when Clark signs his next contract with The Fever, Indiana will at least pay its superstar point guard. $1.1 million per season – and that would only be the beginning.
