Casper Ruud criticizes players who complain about tennis balls

Casper Ruud has called players complaining about tennis balls dramatic as the Norwegian aims to finish the season strong.

Ruud is normally a good-natured player, always respectful and giving nuanced views on topics.

However, there is one topic this season that everyone has an opinion on and that is the difference in tennis balls from one tournament to the next.

This is certainly a topic that has been the subject of much debate with players seemingly unhappy with the ball weight not being the same for every tournament.

However, Casper Ruud is tired of the complaints, as he revealed on the ‘Nothing Major Podcast’ hosted by Sam Querrey: “You see players complaining about balls all the time” Ruud was quoted as saying by tennis infinity on the podcast.

“I’m so tired of saying, “Oh, I feel my elbow…I feel this, that.” I can’t produce electricity. This suits this player… Come on. Just play. For me, what’s funny is that some players come 5 days in advance to train. And I do it myself most of the time, unless you’re going from tournament to tournament.

“They string like 28 rackets to get the right tension. Then they get to the 4th round and start complaining about the balls. But for 9 days, it’s been the same balls. What’s the point of talking to the referee about it now? Like, what’s going to change? “Yeah, let me call Dunlop, I’ll have them send you a can.” What is it for? Just to make drama out of nothing?“

An unusual response from Ruud as he now prepares to finish the season strong at the final Masters 1000 event of the season.

The Norwegian is currently seventh in the race in Turin and needs a thorough run in France to ensure he makes the Nitto ATP Finals.

In his first match, Ruud will face either Jordan Thompson or a qualifier.
