A nighttime kickoff at Ford Field is scheduled for Michigan State football last match of the year.

MSU (3-7, 0-7 Big ten) was all but eliminated from bowl contention before Saturday’s game at Iowa (6-4, 4-3) which starts at 3:35 p.m. (FS1). A loss to the Hawkeyes would keep the Spartans out of any five-win scenario and ensure their fifth season in the last six without a bowl berth. Their last trip to the postseason was a 2021 Peach Bowl victory over Pitt.
Michigan State Spartans head coach Jonathan Smith walks down the sidelines during the first quarter against the Maryland Terrapins at SECU Stadium on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in College Park, Maryland.
Maryland (4-6, 1-6) hosts No. 17 Michigan on Saturday at 4 p.m. in College Park, Maryland on the Big Ten Network.
The match against Terrapins will be considered a home game for MSU, which also closed out the 2023 season at Ford Field with a 42-0 loss to Penn State. In their only other game at Lions Stadium, the Spartans defeated Florida Atlantic, 30-17, on September 11, 2010. This was part of a back-and-forth deal that was moved to Detroit while the Owls’ stadium was not yet completed.
