Publisher’s letter
In 2024, the WNBA experienced its most watched regular season in more than two decades, as well as its greatest attendance in 22 years. And last Monday evening at the hangar in the Hudson sites of Manhattan, it was easy to see why.
For the inaugural problem of the Bustle game changers, we went behind the scenes of the WNBA draft and met 14 of the new WROLT of W players you encourage when the season starts next month. They opened on who inspires them, which keeps them in the earth, their pre-match rituals (naps were a recurring theme), and more.
After the draft evening, we caught up the new guard of the storm of Seattle Serena Sunday, who told us that she celebrated with Burgers (Hero), and the recruit of the Sparks, Sania Feagin, who revealed the touching words of encouragement that his coach of the college told him. Elsewhere in the issue, we have checked with other names to watch this season, including the New York Liberty Sabrina Ionescu star, who shared how she maintains her emblematic ponytail in place; The Chicago Sky Center, Kamilla Cardoso, who spoke of the choice of draft against which she is looking forward to playing; And more.
At Bustle, we are delighted that female sports finally get their due. It’s time.
