The injuries reigned again during the day while the Sixers officially rolled the ball in their 2025-26 season.
“Obviously, we know that for us, the greatest thing is health,” said Joel Embiid on Friday.
From the knee of Embiid to Kelly Oubre Jr.’s Pinkie, here is what we learned about the health of the team in Media Day in Camden, New Jersey.
Joel Embiid
Embiid suffered arthroscopic surgery in April The knee that bothered the knee that limited it to 19 games last season.
The MVP 2022-23 has been satisfied with its trajectory since then, although Embiid and the Sixers have not been inclined to place exact public deadlines on its next steps.
“I feel pretty good,” he said. “I think we have made a lot of progress in the past two months. We have a plan in place, try to check all the boxes.
“There have been a few courtyards, so everything has been on time. … I think there is not necessarily an expectation. It is more about ensuring that everything is fine and doing everything correctly, then from there.”
Embiid has recognized that, as his injury and unlucky story suggests, the season may not be an ultra-lisse.
“I think I want to be as honest as possible,” he said. “I think that in the future, I’m just going to listen to the body. I’m going to be honest and say it will sometimes be unpredictable, and it’s ok. We have to work with that. We have to take it day after day and leave from there.
“So, I think the only thing I focus on is every time we are on the right path, continue. If there is something that happens during this time, it’s ok. Concentrate just on repair and continue. This is my mentality.”
Recruit Johni Broome provided a little understanding of the appearance of Embiid in the action of the camp before the training.
“He’s great. He practiced the other day and I had to keep him. He has marked a couple in a row,” said Broome with a smile. “This is what you expect. You play a good defense and he has a better offense. It is the type of player he is, but I am happy that I can go against him in practice and I will have it on my side during the year. He is a great person to learn and he is very open to tell you about the things you need to improve.”
Paul George
George has undergone more recent arthroscopic surgery of the left knee than that of Embiid.
He said he “improves more and more, feels stronger and feels” July procedure. However, the 35-year-old striker does not expect to participate in the practices of the Sixers weekend training camp. George noted that he was capable of making “almost everything as a full contact”.
“I am in the bodybuilding room, I get up, I train every day,” he said. “I am on the ground. Not ready to start the full increase in packaging on the ground with the race and stuff like that, but I’m on the ground, I train. I do stationary exercises … Dribble movements one by half. I am always able to move and be active on the field, I am simply not ready to be a full -contact participant.”
George did not play in only half of the Sixers games last year. He also tried to cringe several important persistent injuries – knee, groin, Pinkie – even when the Sixers were many games below 0.500. It did not work well for him or for the team.
Will his attitude be different from the future to play with harassment problems?
“I’m not a doctor, but I think I just trust my body, trusting the process this season,” said George. “The team allows me to be as (close) of 100 (percent) as possible, because this is what I registered for. This is why they signed me, to come and be the Paul George that they left and recruited last year. So for me to do this, I must be healthy. That’s it.
“Once again, I put the job, I put time, I see progress. I feel more and more like me every day, and it is the most important thing because the dates end and we are preparing for the season to start. So I like where I am, I like the way we have progressed, and that’s the only way to look at this right now.”
Jared McCain
One day after suffering UCL is tearing itself apart in its right thumbMcCain was absent from the media day.
“He always consults specialists.” We know that Jared will attack it as he did the last (injury) And come back even better.
Kelly Oubre Jr.
Oubre entered the details on Friday about long -term finger injuries which he previously indicated posed challenges with his sweater.
“I also undergone surgery on my little Pinkie and my thumb,” he said. “Different years, different surgeries. I was injured for the first time (the start of) Covid and the rehabilitation process was a bit nonexistent because the world closed. So I built a lot of scar tissue in these areas. And then in my thumb, I have a splint.
“I attacked this very hard this summer. I could see my old therapist. His name is Mo
OUBRE had an offseason tracking consultation.
“I saw the doctor who did it this summer, just to review everything, let him know how I heal,” he said. “We thought of removing the scope from my thumb. But I will remove this, win a range (of movement) but lose something at the back elsewhere.
“I just understood, honestly. But with this range, I have to rewrite the models in my filming brain as I did before all these things. I’m just a hooper, guy. I can’t wait to go there and make it work. The triumph will be better than adversity for sure. ”
Andre Drummond
Drummond had a simple report on the large left toe injury that bothered him for a large part of last year.
“It was a good summer for me,” said the great veteran man. “I did all the things necessary to strengthen strength in my foot and I am 100% from. I look great for (off -season training) and I am ready. ”
Drummond has ventured into a new territory with its rehabilitation.
“Honestly, I didn’t know there was one thing such as toe yoga,” he said. “I did a lot of toes from the toes this summer to really recover this force in my big toe, be able to move it freely without having to stick it. … If you don’t know what it is, look at it. It is certainly not a fun experience, but it worked for me. ”
Eric Gordon
Gordon, 36, is back for a Second season in Philadelphia. His first ended with Right wrist surgery.
“I would say a few months after surgery, I was really able to shoot,” said Gordon. “So I was able to shoot all summer. Each time you have an operation, you will always have ups and downs, but so far, everything has been good. I can’t wait to practice tomorrow without really any limitation.”
Kyle Lowry
Lowry, 39, spoke with great enthusiasm Friday about six -year mentoring like VJ Edgecombe and McCain, who, according to him, have a “purity” in their approach to sport.
Regarding the soil, last season of Lowry was frequently disturbed by a right hip problem. It improved during the summer.
“I feel good,” he said. “I feel really good. I think I can be able to be in the field to help these guys as best as possible. But I know my role this year. So if I need it, I will be there, but my role is to help these guys. I would be delighted to play 25, 30 minutes (per game), but it is not my role, it is not my job. ”
