The former player under contract at Arsenal, Billy Vigar, died at the age of 21 after undergoing a “important brain injury” while she was playing to Chichester City last weekend.
Vigar was injured in a match of the Isthmian League in Wingate and Finchley, leading to the abandonment of the match after 13 minutes.
“After having undergone an important brain injury last Saturday, Billy Vigar was placed in a coma induced on Tuesday, he needed an operation to help the chances of recovery. Although it helped, the injury turned out to be too much for him and he died on Thursday morning,” said a seventh chick -level statement.

Vigar joined Arsenal’s Academy at the age of 14 in 2017, before signing a professional contract in 2022. He was loaned to Derby and Eastbourne Borough before joining Hastings United in 2024. He became Chichester at the start of this season.

“Billy joined our academy on the terms of schoolchildren at the age of 14, after being spotted in his Natal Club Hove Rivervale FC and excelled as an attacker in Hale End, scoring 17 goals in his first season.
