Serena Williams and Venus Williams change their tennis rackets for microphones in their last business.
The sisters who have made a name for themselves on several victories in the tennis championship put themselves behind the microphone in a new podcast called Stockton Street – that the sisters have appointed according to their Childhood house in Compton, California.
The first episode, which is now live on X – has been filmed at Stade Arthur Ashe, the main arena of the US Open. The stadium has a meaning for the sisters while Venus won two of its seven Grand Chelem and Serena titles won six of its 23.
In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter. The Williams Sisters explained why they decided to start the podcast.
“As close as we are, we had to keep so far away because of our jobs,” Serena told the publication. “As much as she is my sister, she is also my opponent, and you cannot be as open as you want. So, this is a real opportunity to do something that we have tried to do, and also just a discovery thing too.”
In an overview of the first episode, they discuss playing each other on the field and how he hesitated which sister was the “best” player for different periods.
“I have the impression that there was a period, however, when you were invincible and I could not play better than you,” said Venus in Serena. “It was like a two -year period.”
Serena then explained why she thinks she had an advantage over her older sister. “I think that’s when I went through my breakup,” said Serena.
“I want me to have broken,” replied Venus, which made the sisters laugh uncontrollable.
In the podcast, the sisters want to share the true nature of their relationship as fans have been inquiring for years.
“I think many people have wondered, and I talk about it in the first episode:” Let us really take each other, because we have to play each other? Do you hate each other? Are you talking about yourself? “,” Said came to Thr. “There are so many things in our relationship that we can share that we have never had before. There is a lot to unpack. “
The first episode of Stockton Street is released now, and the following episodes will present Wednesdays on X.
