Nascar’s “scientific experience” continues with the confusing practice of Bristol

“Our weekly scientific experience continues.”

That’s how it Brad Keselowski Assume the new right tires brought by Goodyear to Bristol Motor Speedway which were designed to fall faster than its predecessor, but have in fact shown little wear compared to the spring race during Friday training.

“The tires have resisted very well today,” said Keselowski. “I am surprised by that, but we will see tomorrow. The hour will tell us. It will be a different test while it enters the night, more cars on the track at the same time, our weekly scientific experience continues.”

Keselowski articulated it like that because Nascar and Goodyear tried several times to reproduce the 2024 spring race which corded the tires in the 40 laps and brought them closer to 200 then 150, but these do not seem to fade a lot at all.

This despite Goodyear bringing three different combinations on four races to Thunder valley During this time.

Meanwhile, another surprise occurred in the form of who won the post for the Bristol night race in the first place, AJ Allmendinger marking his first pole in a decade and the first on an oval.

Make.

“Yeah, I know that it is Friday evening that qualifies and at the end of the day, it does not pay points or money, but these are small victories like this for our racing team who continually tries to grow,” said AllMendinger. “I was super proud of all men and women to Kaulig Racing This year. It’s difficult in the Cup series. Sometimes the results do not show the speed you bring to the racetrack and in a race track, maybe we ran 28th last year, we run 15th this year, things like that.

“So, yes, days like today are pleasant and give me confidence because I have the impression of being able to do it. And at the end of the day, whoever knows me knows that I am by far the hardest for me and I will always be like that. It will never change. So, days like today are important to me, as well, because it proves that I can be here.”

AllMendinger also echoed the feeling that the tires did not vanish in practice.

“We have done 60 laps today. They were not all consecutive. We have made some changes to improve the car. This is what gave me confidence by qualifying. Our last change, I felt like I had a lot of speed.

“There is a little fall, but at least my car was quite good, so he had never had the impression that there was a cliff there tires that suddenly would hit this cliff and unfold or really start to fall. Looking at the tires, they had worn on them, but they were not extreme.”

It’s like one of these things – in the spring here, we ran 25 laps and it seemed that the tires collapse. Then we ran 160 on them in the race. So, I don’t know what to expect. I just think, like anything, if you have a good balance, you can manage the tires. “”

But really, it should not be a surprise that the tires did not fade. It was hot enough during the day so that the track takes rubber and there will be three different races on the track even before the Cup race takes the green flag.

“I’m going to run anything”

The massive breed of tire cords was the result of temperatures below 60, which seems to be the threshold in which the rubber does not infiltrate on the porous surface, and therefore Austin Cindric was not surprised.

“Not at all, no,” said Cindric. “The temperature in the track, I think that tomorrow evening will be interesting if it is really cold, but, on the whole, not really. The pace increases and I would say that it is probably that from today. I think there could be a little fall towards the end of the stays, but nothing as we had here last spring, I do not think.”

And really, with regard to William Byron Is worried, he is grateful for a race that looks like normal Bristol because a great deviation during the playoffs would be a question of equity.

“If everything is normal, that’s good, no matter,” said Byron. “If we are there by shredding and blowing tires, it’s a bit unfair, don’t you think?” We ran all season with one thing and then come here and it’s something different …

“I don’t know. It doesn’t matter to me. I’m going to run anything under the car, but I would find this kind of unfair, I suppose. “

His teammate Chase Elliott No emotional energy there at all.

“I will not insist on this because I have no control over this,” said Elliott. “I don’t say it or decision -making in the tires and I totally agree.

“Like, I don’t know what is the fix for the car. I have ideas and opinions, things we want to see better, but if you sit here and act as if you have all the answers, 100%, you are really intelligent, or I don’t know, but I certainly do not have all the answers.”
