A striking fracture was formed in Warsaw while both sides Yays voice and not on a question: golf carts and UTV. More specifically, should people be allowed to lead them within the limits of the city or not? Some are with enthusiasm while others are categorically against.
The last meeting of the Warsaw Municipal Council was filled with citizens concerned on August 11, because the council discussed the possibility of allowing golf carts to be conducted within the limits of the city. The Kim Pearcy scale has made a motion to allow the operation of golf carts and other sides within the limits of the city.
Robert Bell, a resident of Warsaw, spoke to the council of how he must use his golf cart within the city limits. Bell said he was unable to drive a car because of his handicap, and he wanted to take care of his basic needs by driving his golf cart to the store and other parts of the city.
“If I could mount my golf cart in the city, I could leave my home and have my hair cut or take care of other tasks and not depend on my neighbors to help me,” said Bell.
Alderman Jennifer Flores explained how Lincoln’s advice, Cole Camp and Windsor had adopted prescriptions to allow golf carts to be operated within the city limits. On the other hand, some people think that the difference between cities makes varsaw inappropriate for golf carts.
“Since we are like a tourist area, I think that the owners outside would likely take advantage of it,” said Tina Lomax, a resident of Warsaw. “It’s great that we have people who spend their money here for taxes, but if they bring their golf cart with them, I think it’s just a bad idea.”
The council decided to file the vote on the golf cart and the prescription side by side until more information is presented at the next meeting. However, the debate has raged to date. Warsaw resident and owner of Deer Rest campsite, Charlie McGann, expressed his support for golf carts, but also says that the city must do it in the right way.
“I think it’s a good idea as long as it is managed properly. It would be practical for people, especially those who stay at the campsite. There must be two prescriptions, however, one for golf carts and one for the sides, due to the difference in speed, “said McGann.
Warsaw police chief Jason Wenberg is not completely against driving golf carts and UTV, but he is also categorical that there must be two prescriptions for each type of vehicle because they are clearly different.
“I think that by state law, they must actually have two different orders because golf carts and UTV are two different types of cars,” said Wenberg. “UTV generally have safety belts, windshields and limited seats. They also travel much faster. They have a little more power than a golf cart. ”
However, there are other concerns that float. If it is adopted, many will lead golf carts because it is the “new” thing, which could cause security problems.
“A golf cart does not have much protection,” said Chef Wenberg. “If you get someone who has a larger vehicle or who moves a little faster than it should, they may not pay attention to a golf cart.”
Wenberg is not entirely against the order, due to his work prior to Lincoln, where they have allowed him for years. During his stay there, he said that he rarely saw a golf cart or had problems when he did. Others, on the other hand, are completely against the idea. Lomax believes that even if rules are put in place, it is unlikely that they can be applied.
“There are a lot of things that are not applied, and I am told that golf carts and public service vehicles should have a driving license on the road. But I agree, the police will stop each golf car and a utility vehicle and ask for their license? I do not see this happening,” said Lomax.
Allowing golf carts within the limits of the city has been implemented across the country in different cities. Many in these areas have expressed concerns and problems. According to the Wall Street Journal, slow evolution carts can obstruct traffic, frustrating from other drivers. Security is also a concern, especially when carts are motivated by children or adolescents with little supervision. A quasi-collision in Texas involved a young girl distracted by her smartphone. Some of these concerns are taken up by those of Warsaw.
This problem shows that the smallest subjects can become controversial. However, this also shows the care that many of the community has for the city. Many want to make sure people can eliminate potential barriers and have more convenience with golf carts. Others are immediately worried about the security of their neighbors. Everyone has good intentions but different ideas. No matter how it shakes, everyone in Warsaw wants what they believe best, but now you just have to ask: What do you think?
