Golden State WarriorsAmerican Professional basketball team based in San Francisco west Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Warriors won six NBA championships and a basketball association America (BAA) Title.
The warriors were founded in 1946 and were originally based Philadelphia. One of the original BAA members, the team won the first league championship behind the game of Future Hall of Fame Award Joe Fulks, the first BAA leader. The Warriors lost in the BAA final the following season, and in 1949, the team became part of the NBA when the BAA merged with the National Basketball League (NBL). The Warriors finished more than fourth place in their division only once during their first six seasons in the new league. In 1955-1956, however, the Warriors, directed by the front Paul Arizin and Center Neil Johnston, published the best record in the League and won his first NBA title.
In 1959, Philadelphia added a local product Wilt Chamberlainwho would become one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. While with the Warriors, he scored 100 NBA record points in a 1962 competition, in what would prove to be the last year of the team in Philadelphia.
