Boston’s stars voltiseur Jarren Duran said he tried to commit suicide while he was fighting with his mental health during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

“… I got to a point where I was sitting in my room, I had my rifle and I had a bullet and I pressed the relaxation and the weapon clicked, but nothing happened. So, to this day, I think God did not let me take my life because I do not know why I do not know when I started to have started to face it here or I don’t want to be here? One reason, so let’s be how you want to be and play (the way) that you want to play and live as you want to live.

The CEO of Red Sox, Sam Kennedy, praised Duran’s honesty. “Jarren’s decision to share his story is an act of courage that goes far beyond baseball,” Kennedy said in a statement. “By opening, he shows others who may have trouble that they are not alone and that asking for help is not only ok, it’s essential.”

“On (the strip on) my left wrist, I write,” fuck ’em “, because it was I who told myself to my demons:” You are not going to unfold me “”, says Duran in the documentaryies. “And on my right wrist, I write” always alive “because I’m still there and I always fight.”

Duran had the best season of his career in 2024 and was named All-Star for the first time, recording career summits in Home Runs (21), races (111), RBI (75) and stolen bases (34). He was also suspended two games for shout a homophobic Slur in a fan who heckled him.
