New York – Jesse Winker was holding her daughter in an post -match interview after helping to raise the New York dishes to a return victory on Saturday evening when he asked him if he was fast.
Without hesitation, Wren, 4, hosted his head. She nodded quickly when Winker asked if she was faster than him.
“Wren’s father didn’t know he was fast,” Winker said with a big smile. “And I don’t think it’s fast.”
But Winker struck two triples, including two rounds in the eighth round, and also had a double in the 3-2 victory of the Blue Jays in Toronto.
So, is Winker the new version of Lance Johnson or Jose Reyes for the food?
“No,” said Winker categorically.
The 31 -year -old Winker entered on Saturday with only three triple regular seasons in 760 career games, and he had not had a regular season game since 2021 while he was with Cincinnati.
But the triples against the Blue Jays were his third and fourth in his last 16 games dating the playoffs last October. The long -haired outcry had triple RBIs against Milwaukee in a series of Joker and Los Angeles in the NL championship series.
“Just lower your head and run as fast as possible,” Winker said.
The second triple of Winker could have been a home run inside the park. The right field player of Blue Jays, George Springer, underwent spasms from the lower back after having crashed into the wall in search of the ball, but he got back on his feet, chased the ball and threw it towards the inner field to limit the wink to three bases.
“At the start, I thought it had a chance to go out – I should probably have been harder in the box,” said Winker. “But once he got rid of, I just wanted to run as fast as possible.”
Winker also tripled with two withdrawals in the fourth off the coast of Chris Bassitt, but was blocked when Mark came to hit. The two triple match was the first of a food player since Francisco Lindor did it on July 26, 2023.
However, Winker joined a selected club by becoming the 17th player in the history of the team with two triples in a match. Reyes holds the team record with 113 triple and eight triple games. Johnson, whose 21 triples in 1996 are the team record for a season, and Doug Flynn are the only other players in the food with a pair of games with two triple.
“It’s crazy – crazy, no comments,” Winker said with a smile. “Fatigue.”
