New York (AP) – The seven time all -star of the WNBA, Elena Delle gives, twice the championship MVP and a key element of the 2019 Washington Championship, retires after 11 seasons.
Delle gives, 35 years old, Makes the announcement on social networks Friday And referenced a line of one of his favorite childhood books that is read as follows: “How is it so late?”

“I wondered many times with regard to the decision to retire basketball,” wrote Delle gives on Instagram. “Being able to say that aloud was one of the most difficult parts of my career. My body seemed to make this decision before my mind accepted it, but I really know it’s the right thing for me at the right time. ”
The second overall choice in 2013 by Chicago, Delle Give spent a dozen years as one of the faces of the WNBA. She has played the last six seasons of her career in Washington – she opted for 2020 due to health problems – and refused a contract in February 2024 to move away from basketball.
She collected an average of 19.5 points and 6.7 rebounds in 241 regular season games. She also played in 40 playoffs, where she collected an average of 17.9 points, 6.1 plates and 2.3 assists.
“Words cannot express correctly how grateful I am for my family, all my teammates, friends, executives, sponsors, staff, especially and especially the incredible fans who accompanied me in this trip,” she wrote. “This game was my life, and I am grateful for memories and how good it has given me. It feels good to close this chapter knowing that I gave myself everything, and I cannot expect what is following!”
