The former resident of Jupiter, Jason Caron, plays the PGA Tour Champions Calendar

Warren SAPP by working with the Colorado, Travis Hunter and Golf buffalo

Warren Sapp talks about his latest career movement by working with the Colorado Buffaloes, as well as the golf tournament in which he participates in the name of James Hardie and the Temple of Professional Football.

  • Despite his success on the Champions Tour, Caron remains attached to his role as PGA professional at the Mill River Club and prioritizes family time on the pursuit of a full -time tour career.

Boca Raton – When Jason Caron left Jupiter in 2011, he finished trying to make a living while playing golf.

At least it is thought.

He had spent almost two decades to continue his dream, had played on the PGA Tour for two seasons and the Korn Ferry Tour For too long. It was time to start a family and to take a secure PGA professional job in the northeast.

At least it is thought.

Then, Caron had a magical week during the PGA senior championship last year, ending equally in fourth row, and the high finishes and the magic continued. The next thing you knew, Caron, 52, had won a complete exempt status on the champions of the PGA Tour by earning more than $ 600,000 while playing in only nine of the 27 tournaments.

“When I finished and they told me that I was in the top 36, I said to myself:” How could it be? ” “Said Caron.” It was not supposed to happen to me. “

But it happened, and that remains one of the most remarkable stories in golf. Caron returns to Palm Beach County for this week James Hardie Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational At the Broken Sound Club of Boca Raton in an unexpected place in life: not only is he a full -time member on the PGA Tour champions, but he has already positioned himself for a return to the circuit of 50 years and over next season.

With three TOP-10 in five starts, including a loss to the playoffs against Steven Alker, Caron is seventh in the list of Charles Schwab funds with $ 366,717.

“Things tend in the right direction,” said Caron. “I was close to Tucson (defeat in playoffs). I am surprised to have played this big start of the year. He proved to me that I have what it takes to play here. ”

Dana Quigley, Rob Labritz also represents Palm Beach County on the PGA Tour champions

Caron is not the first professional in the PGA to win his place in the champions of the PGA Tour. Dana Quigley, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, made millions with her Mulligan golf course.

More recently, Rob Labritz, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, has done the same, spending the last three seasons to play alongside the renowned temple such as Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer and Retisef GOOSEN. (Labritz has lost its status this year, but received a sponsor exemption in James Hardie.)

“It is not easy to finish in the top 36 of the Champions tour,” said Brett Quigley in Jupiter, one of the closest friends of Caron and the nephew of Dana. “Doing it in a limited quantity of events is even more difficult. And do it while working as a professional club? It’s really incredible. “

That’s right, Caron is still working as the PGA chief professional at the Mill River Club in Oyster, NY, he has entered into an agreement with the club where he will continue to serve as a chief professional, concentrating his PGA champions calendar before May and after August, when Mill River is closed due to the weather.

Caron, who married the former player of the LPGA tour of Liz Janangelo (they have two daughters), said that his life was no longer revolving around Birdies and Bogeys. He doesn’t want it either.

“My decision to play a little on the PGA Tour champions is not the final match,” said Caron. “I am still the chief professional of Mill River and I do not see myself having work in Mill River. I don’t want to run to run after a white golf ball when I could watch my daughters grow up. ”

Although it has been almost 15 years since he moved away from Palm Beach County, Caron will have a lot of support this week. A good number of Mill River members live in Boca Raton during the winter.

“I think I will have a fairly important suite,” said Caron.

Caron was not one of the 26 PGA Tour championship players who will be twinned with a temple of professional football fame during the first two laps. It gives him a better opportunity to focus on his game.

It is interesting to know how to play golf becomes a little easier when the results do not matter as much. For more than 20 years, being a golfer on tour is all that concerned him.

Not now. But Caron always has the same goal he had when he was younger and cringing smaller tours.

“I have never won a PGA sanctioned event,” he said after playing nearly 240 in his career. “As a competitor, you still want to win. It would be good to finally do this this year. ”
