Salisbury, NC – There is a new flowering busch in the world of dirt races – and he gives the old busch a race for his money.

At just 9 years old, Brexton Busch ran his father, the double champion of the Nascar Kyle Busch series, head-to-head for the first time in competition Wednesday at Millbridge Speedway. The duo ran its nose to the tail with Kyle Busch Fifth and Brexton Busch Sixth for a large part of the 20 laps of the night in the microphone class Wingd 600cc, but the elder Busch escaped a third place on the final restart with six laps to travel.

The dashboard offered slim boastful rights for the 39 -year -old veteran father, but Kyle Busch’s experience in competition directly against his son is the one he sincerely cherishes.

“It was cool,” said Kyle Busch. “One of these days, we are going to fight and exchange back and forth, hopefully. But for a first night, it’s really impressive for a 9-year-old child to come here.”

The Busch brigade was fast overnight, but not as fast as Kyle Busch hoped. During the final restart, Kyle, a winner of 63 races in competition in the Cup and title champion in the Micro Winged 600cc class, instructed the outside in second position before Nathan Meendering returned to the finalist below. Looking at his father to take the high side, Brexton Busch decided to follow the step of fifth place but did not find the same momentum, allowing Kolson Nelson to storm inside, establishes a slight contact in 3 and 4 and take the top five place.

Kyle Busch then had a front seat for an exciting photo between the winner of the race Joey Robinson and Meendering for the victory.

“Our race was ok,” Kyle Busch said. “I felt like we needed a little more there. It was just in a way to fight this groove from the bottom, everyone who was running the bottom. And then I jumped outside for restarting, and it seemed to take me a place, I suppose. But I hoped there would be more ways than that when we got to traffic, and I never really found traffic.”

In qualification, the two buses flashed with Kyle in third and Brexton seventh qualifying. Kyle then loaded from the fourth to the second in the heat 2 and Brexton ranking third in the heat 1. On the starting grid for the main one, Kyle aligned the fifth and seventh Brexton – just behind her father. The first 13 laps have run without incident until the Tyler Lupton race leader in turn turned 2. The relatively long race led Brexton’s contents in sixth place, according to his father’s tire tracks.

Under caution, buses went to the fourth and fifth respectively before the final restart which allowed Kyle in third while Brexton fell to the sixth.

“He did an excellent job, however,” said Kyle Busch. “I was not very good, so I didn’t take time before, going from guys or not getting closer to those in front of me to take a step. So I was just taking my own conduct, but trying as hard as possible. And if it was right there, then it’s pretty good. We just have to work on our things.”

Wednesday evening will not score the only time the father-son duo will compete for each other, but the next one remains to be determined. The opportunity to fight each other in a full -fledged competition is the one Kyle has had in mind for years. Even so, the chance to do it now “in a way appeared” for the family.

“The other day, guys were all like:” Are you running too on Wednesday? \ “”, Kyle Busch remembers. “And I said to myself:” Well, yes, why? “And they say to themselves:” Well, you are going to be together. “And I say to myself: ‘Yeah, ok, we are. Go there! It’s here. \” “

Brexton Busch has run much more in recent years, in competition in more than 150 races in 2024, his mother and mother, Samantha Busch told Nascar.com. His love for sport is obvious, and the possibility of competing with his father was also excited.

“I don’t know there is never a good time, but obviously, he is 9 years old, and it’s just that it is old enough to run in this class,” said Kyle Busch. “We thought it would probably be another year before the case, but Millbridge here obviously saw its races, its job, its development in the past year. And so they believe that it has had enough and good enough to be able to go there and run with all the big guys tonight.”

Brexton proved that he was ready on Wednesday evening, ending before Thad Moffitt and 19th place, Alan, who both made departures through the Arca Menards series and the Nascar Craftsman Truck series.
