The former launcher of the Los Angeles Dodgers Julio Urías was Suspended during the 2025 stars break For having violated the policy of domestic violence of the League, MLB announced on Friday. Urías, who is currently a free agent, will be restored to the restricted list on July 17, 2025.
This is the second time that Urías, now aged 28, has been suspended by the League under its policy of domestic violence. Urías received a suspension of 20 games in 2019 after being arrested and accused of domestic battery. After being reintegrated, Urías launched for dodgers in the section in 2019. He returned to the team in 2020 and was on the mound when the The Dodgers won the World Series This year.
Urías remained with the Dodgers for most of the 2023 season. After another arrest of domestic violence in September, Urías was put on administrative leave by MLB. His contract expired at the end of the 2023 season and Urías was not signed in 2024.
Formerly considered one of the best hopes in baseball, Urías turned out to be promising on the mound at the start of his career. He was in the middle of a season in small groups in 2019, displaying an MPM from 2.49 to 79 2/3 innings, when he received his first suspension of domestic violence from MLB.
After winning the World Series in 2020, Urías set up its two best seasons in the majors. He won 20 games in 2021 and finished seventh in Voting Cy Young after publishing an MPM of 2.96. It was even better in 2022, displaying an MPM of 2.16 and finishing third in the Cy Young vote.
The injuries limited the sleeves and performance of Urías in 2023. Before being placed on administrative leave, Urías set up an MPM of 4.60 out of 117 1/3 sleeves.
After being not signed in 2024, the career of the Major League of Urías could be completed after Friday’s suspension.
