THE Pittsburgh penguins were clear sellers on the NHL trade deadline this season, because they have enabled many choices and few players stirred.

But one of these players rejuvenated made an impression in this short period of time.

Defender Conor Timmins was a regular presence on the third Pittsburgh agreement Since the Toronto Maple Leafs has been acquired – With the striker Connor Dewar – March 7.

"I feel good," Said Timmins. "I have the impression that the transition was quite fluid, and the guys were great for me. So far, it has been good."

The smooth skating blueller contributed on both sides of the washer, recording a goal and four points in five games since he joined the Penguins. In 51 games with Toronto this season, he produced only two goals and eight points in total.

He is also second in the shots of shots blocked for 60 to 5.28 and tied for the first in shots blocked per game with 1.4. He was especially reliable in all areas, which is a strength of his game.

And his hockey intelligence also allowed him to quickly go to the Pittsburgh system.

"I just think he’s a good player," Sullivan said. "He also has a Hockey IQ, and I think that is what allows him to move on to his ability to think about the game. This is something that we noticed very early when we had it. He has skills, he has an IQ of hockey, he sees it quite well on both sides of the washer … We think he improves with each game he plays. We really liked what he has brought to his team so far."

He saw a lot of ice time with the defense partner Ryan Graves, with whom he played sporadically during their time with the Colorado Avalanche in 2020-21. Graves said he liked to play with a partner like Timmins who is not afraid to have the washer on his stick.

"It is good with the washer," Said serious. "It is a washer. He has a decent size, so he can defend … he plays a double -meaning match. I like to play with a guy like that who likes to manage (the washer) a little, who wants the washer, that you can give it to him in difficult places because he is able to manage it.

He’s a good player, he has good feet, he makes good passes, he’s a simple player … So, it’s nice."

Beyond the transition on ice – and familiarity with a defense partner – the transition of Timmins out of the ice was also very fluid. So far, he has appreciated his stay in Pittsburgh, and he is looking forward to continuing to be part of the locker room in the future.

"It was super welcoming," Said Timmins. "I spoke to (the old Penguin) Michael Bunting – I know him quite well – so, before coming, I told him, and the first thing he mentioned was how great the room was. So, I knew I came to a large locker room, and the guys were super useful for me and Connor Dewar. It was great."

Timmins is an RFA pending this season, and we do not know what the Penguins will decide to do during the offseason with regard to their list. In any case, Timmins wins a new contract with each game to which he plays.
