For football fans of Michigan State who are looking forward to the spring showcase of each year, there were unhappy news on Tuesday. MSU head coach Jonathan Smith announced that his team will not organize a spring match or a showcase this year.
Spartans are not the only team to do so, because it becomes a bit of a trend in university football in recent times. Of course, the spring game was not what it was recently, because it evolved more in a “showcase” than a real melee anyway.
Regarding the reasons for the decision, Smith cited the renovations of the Spartan stadium as a key factor. He also declared that another factor, although not principal, consisted in minimizing the poaching of his players by other programs via the portal after having been able to look at their practice.
