Casey Mears, which last time participated in the Nascar Cup series in 2019, is expected to return its series to the Martinsville race on March 30 for Garage 66, the team announced on Thursday.

Mears, who was 47 years old Wednesday, won the Coca-Cola 600 2007 in a cup career which lasted from 2003 to 2009 and included 489 departures of the series.

“I am happy to be back in a racing car and I can’t wait to return to Martinsville, one of my favorite songs,” Mears said in a statement. “I appreciate Carl (long, garage co -owner 66) who works with me to get there; He is a great and respected guy who worked hard to feel a longevity in sport. I am delighted to have Hitchgo, the towing and transport of Mosby, and the Co-à Board companies while we enter the 500 NASCAR CUP Series begin. »»

Awarded for a long time in a press release: “The fact that Casey Mears leads a 66 garage car is a proud day for our organization. He is taken to the elite of Nascar, such as Chip Ganassi Racing, Hendrick Motorsports and Richard Childdre Racing. The addition of Garage 66 to this list means a lot for me and all those who helped build our team.

“Casey and I connected for the first time many years ago when I was driving and he always treated me, me and our competing colleagues, with respect on and off track. He is from a historic race family, but it is not something he boasts. He always takes time for everyone, which is indicative of his character. I love having the opportunity to work with good people, especially when they drive quickly. I am delighted to go to Martinsville with Casey and spend a successful weekend for Hitchgo, towing and transporting Mosby and coactive companies. »»
