Longhorns hires the former head coach of Virginie-Western

The Longhorns continued to add to their coach staff on Tuesday, hiring Former Virginia-Western Coach Neal Brown. He recently led the Mountaineers to a 6-6 file last year before he was released. They had a better success during the 2023 campaign, going 9-4 and beating the North Carolina in Mayo Bowl.

While Brown time with Virginia-Western ends disappointing, his mandate was full of memorable moments. He ended his Mountaineers career with a 37-35 file. We do not know what role Brown would fulfill in Steve Sarkisian staff, but his experience would be a precious addition.

While the Longhorns are looking to end their league drought, Brown would be the last to join staff who has undergone a lot of turnover in recent weeks. Departures include Blake Gideon, Terry Joseph and Tashard Choice.

Although Brown has never trained in Texas, he has links with the program. He played with Chad Scott, the new Longhorn coach in Kentucky. They also worked together at Troy, Texas Tech and Virginie-Western. Now it seems that they will meet in Texas.

During his coach career, Brown teams are known to lead football and playing defense. Although this is not the case with Longhorns due to a starry quarter to Arch Manning, the defense was a surprising force last year. This should be the case during the 2025 campaign with Brown on the staff.

In one of the country’s largest programs, Brown will be able to show Virginia-Western what they are missing.
