Cedar Ridge hired a new football head coach with a defensive background.
Bryan Vardeman has moved to the Round Rock School after being a defensive coordinator at Flower Mound High since 2016. He has been a high school coach since 2004.
It will also serve as a sports coordinator of Cedar Ridge.
Vardeman, 44, said that he had found a passion as a coach of his own days as a football player. In particular, it was a defensive back for four years at Oklahoma State which played in the Bowls Cotton and Houston.
“My family and I are very happy to join this incredible community,” he said. “Cedar Ridge has all the components that make up a championship school, and I can’t wait to start and drop off in our children and our community.”

His first day will be March 10.
The new coach already has the support of Cedar Ridge director Shawn Miller.

“The Vardeman coach is an experienced leader who establishes solid relationships with students, parents and community members,” said Miller. “He is committed to associating our teachers and our staff to ensure the success of students in class, in the field and in our community.”
Vardeman obtained a Baccalaureate in Sciences at Oklahoma State and a master’s degree in education from Lamar University.

Vardeman takes over Sam Robinsonwho resigned as a football coach Cedar Ridge after the 2024 season after eight years with the program. Robinson had a 50-33 file in Cedar Ridge and reached the state-based playoffs four times.
