The screening combination brings together the entire NFL community. For the best and for the worst.
According to several sources which have witnessed the interaction, Jordan Schultz of Fox and Ian Report of NFL Media embarked on a verbal altercation Wednesday afternoon at the Starbucks at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis. Schultz, we are told, accosted Rapoport.
The incident was first extended to light when the PFT commentator (A / K / A Eric Sollenberger … A / K / A Brother twin of the late Eric Sollenberger) published a tweet on Wednesday evening which referred to a “Big Time Media Media Confrontation“Between a” two NFL newspaper pressors “. The tweet has sparked a lot of speculation and an effort to go to the bottom of the situation.
The fact that this happened in a Starbucks provides an intriguing coincidence; Schultz is the son of the former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
We are told that Rapoport was talking to an agent. Schultz approached Rapoport and said, “We have to speak.” (Or specific words for this purpose.)
Rapoport replied, we are told, “We don’t need to speak.” (Or specific words for this purpose.)
Schultz then made charges about Rapoport, we are told. Rapoport, we are told, considers the accusations as unfounded. The two men were mainly face to face.
“If you have something to tell me, tell my fucking face,” said Schultz, or specific words for this purpose. “If that continues, we will have a fucking problem.” (As shown below, Schultz does not remember using blasphemies.)
Rapoport then asked Schultz to step back.
“If this is reproduced, we will have a fucking problem,” said Schultz, or specific words for this purpose. “Now I’m going to step back.”
The incident was reported to NFL security. And the security of the NFL has made declarations of several witnesses.
Rapoport refused to comment on the situation. Schultz told PFT this by SMS: “It’s really nothing too much. Ian Rapoport and I had a verbal confrontation. It lasted just over a minute. Several agents and journalists were nearby. Rapoport was the one who called security shortly after, but that never increased more.”
Schultz initially challenged the number of explains in the account as provided to PFT. He then said he remembers using it.
Rapoport told a witness that NFL security had been informed of the exchange because it was considered a threat of physical violence.
The NFL did not immediately respond to a request for PFT comments.
The catalyst, according to all the appearances, was the report of Schultz Wednesday that the quarterrier of the Rams Matthew Stafford Recently met Tom Brady, owner of the Raiders minority, in Montana. Rapport minimize the report Like a chance, an unforeseen meeting. Schultz rejected the concept That it was a random meeting between Brady and Rapoport.
That said, it seems that tensions between the two journalists have been (wait) brewing for some time.
We will see where it goes from here, if anywhere. But he provided an unexpected photo of espresso to a week otherwise sleepy in Indianapolis.
