Starting skating is a very good thing – but that does not mean that it will be ready to play anytime soon. I imagine that he will probably need a solid month of skating before any consideration is made to put it in a game.
Would Kane accept a loan conditioned in Bakersfield? Given his competitive nature, I imagine that he prefers to be thrown into the NHL gameplay fires rather than supporting the perceived hoopla of an AHL packaging.
In one way or another, the oilers need to see Kane play. If he can play 90% of what the team knows he is capable, he will be a welcome addition. Otherwise, the Oilers will have to make decisions about what will be their future with the team.
Fortunately for the Oilers, they still have time to sort it all.
