Emma Raducanu said that she will “go well” after a “fixed spectator” was ejected from her match at the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier this week.

According to the WTA, the Women’s Tennis director of tennis, a man approached Raducanu in a public space on Monday and posted “fixed behavior”.

The same man was then identified again in the stands in the British player match against Karolína Muchová on Tuesday before being withdrawn and prohibited from all WTA events “while waiting for a threat assessment,” said WTA.

Raducanu appeared shaken at the start of the match against Muchová. She went to speak to the referee while dragging 2-0 in the first set and was then comforted by her Czech opponent after hiding behind the referee’s chair.

“Thank you for the messages of support,” Raducanu wrote on an Instagram story on Wednesday. “Difficult experience yesterday, but I will be well and proud of the way I came back and I competed despite what happened at the start of the match.

“Thanks to Karolína for being a great sport and good luck to her for the rest of the tournament.”

Muchová won the 7-6 (6), 6-4 competition and, having also won his third-round match, now faces Romania Sorana Cîrstea in the quarter-final in Dubai.

After the incident, the WTA said that players’ security is its “top priority”, adding: “Tournaments are advised on best safety practices for international sporting events.

“The WTA is actively working with Emma and her team to ensure her well-being and provide any necessary support. We remain determined to collaborate with tournaments and their security teams worldwide to maintain a safe environment for all players. »»

CNN contacted the Dubai police for additional comments.

Raducanu took on glory when she won US Open 18 years old after being qualified. Since then, she has fought with form and injuries and has currently been classified n ° 61 in the world.

After reaching the third round of the Australian Open last month, Raducanu has since suffered an early outing during four consecutive tournaments, but beat Maria Sakkari from Greece to Dubai before the defeat against Muchová.
