Giancarlo Stanton may not be ready for the opening day.

The New York Yankees Slugger and the ALCS title MVP faced pain in the two elbows that leave its status for the start of the 2025 season in doubt.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed Stanton’s status to journalists on the team’s spring training site in Tampa, Florida. Infielders and external championships reported on Sunday.

According to Boone, Stanton has been dealing with pain since last season and he worsened after the stars break. He did not offer an accurate diagnosis, but compared the problem to the tennis elbow.

“Giancarlo is a little late by treating things of the elbows to which he treated last year, in fact, the two elbows really appear at the elbow of tennis,” said Boone, by the Associated Press. “It is something that if we were going in its own right, we would probably be climbing probably, but that we just wanted to make sure that we were doing it the right time and we just gave the best position throughout The year. “

Boone said Stanton had continued to solve the problem throughout the winter and that it prompted him to close his intersane training sessions. The plan in the future is to “play slow” Stanton in spring training. Boone refused to put a calendar on Stanton’s availability and predicted that the problem persists throughout the season.

“I’m not going to put a chronology,” said Boone. “We are just going to be intelligent with it and listen to it a little. I expect it to be fine. It’s just a question of knowing when we are going to really move it to feel like – give -We the best chance of getting as much as possible.

Stanton did not speak with journalists on Sunday.

Stanton, 35, is an All-Star five times and an old MVP of Al. In 114 games as a striker appointed last season, he reduced .233 / .298 / .475 with 27 circuits and 72 products. He was a hero of the New York series in the World Series playoffs, where the Yankees lost against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Stanton reduced .273 / .339 / .709 with seven circuits and 16 points produced in 14 games in qualifying series against the Royals, Guardians and Dodgers. He collected four circuits and seven points produced in five games against the Guardians en route to the honors of the Alcs MVP, then hit two circuits in the World Series.

With The departure of Juan Soto at the foodThe presence of Stanton in the programming will have an additional weight in 2025. For the moment, the Yankees do not take risks with his health. The Yankees open their regular season on March 27 at home against the Brewers Milwaukee.
