Genesis Invitational Third round of ranking

-8 P Rodgers (US); -7 D McCarthy (United States); -6 L Aberg (SWE); -4 T Finau (US), P Cantlay (US), T Fleetwood (Eng), D Thompson (United States).

Others others -3 R McILroy (Ni), S Scheffler (United States); Level S Power (ire); +1 A rai (engine), +2 M Fitzpatrick (Eng); +4 s Lowry (ire).

The American Patrick Rodgers is “excited” to take an advance in the last round of Sunday of the Genesis Invitational while he tries to win his first PGA Tour event in 286 departures.

Rodgers, who participated in this position four times before, drew a 68 four under normal to improve eight in Torrey Pines in San Diego.

He is a clair of compatriot Denny McCarthy, who drew a 71 and also pursued a first victory in his 194th event.

Rodgers, who built the 18th by five after throwing a corner of 91 yards in the water, was a finalist four times, twice losing in play-offs.

“Whenever my name is mentioned, this is the first thing everyone says, so it’s something I have to face,” said the 31 -year -old about his sequence without a victory.

“I am struggling with a long time, but I have the impression of seeing my career from another point of view now and I am delighted with the opportunity to cross this finish line on Sunday.”

The world number one Scottie Scheffler and Rory McILroy of Northern Ireland have slipped into the ranking with cycles of four against 76 and two out of 74 respectively to situate five strokes behind Rodgers.

Scheffler hid his worst score from the final of the 2022 players’ championship, where he also had a 76.

But Ludvig Aberg in Sweden, who remains in contact with the leaders thanks to the first hole in a tournament.

The 25 -year -old, who played the Ryder Cup 2023, struck a corner on the third hole of 140 yards, the ball landing a few meters from the spindle and returning to the hole.

“It was a really cool moment,” said the Swedish, who pulled a 70 and is out of six sous. “I have never made a hole in one during the tournament game before.”

It was the sixth Ace of the year of the tour – all by international players: Sami Valimaki from Finland, Kris Ventura de Norway, Mcilroy, Ireland Shane Lowry, Emiliano Grillo from Argentina and Aberg.
