It is the ninth year that Genesis is the title sponsor. Before becoming an invitation, the tournament was called The Genesis Open. He started in 1926 as Los Angeles Open, and the event in 2025 will be 99th.
The Genesis is the seventh oldest tournament in the PGA Tour calendar, but if you consider the real PGA Tour events and not the Majors, the Genesis is the fourth older, behind the BMW, the Texas Open and Texas Open.

This year will mark the first time that the Genesis will be played outside the Los Angeles region.
