Brittney Griner’s future with the Phoenix Mercury is uncertain during the free agency period after she unfollowed the team’s Instagram account.

His Instagram feed still contains photos from his time with the Mercury, but his wife, Cherelle, has also unfollowed the team account.

The withdrawal comes after the All-Star told The Associated Press on Tuesday that she was testing the WNBA free agency market for the first time.

While in Miami for Unrivaled, an offseason league, Griner said she participated in meetings with several teams.

“I want to show off my skills in free agency,” Griner said of his role in Unrivaled.

Since being drafted first overall by the Mercury in 2013, Griner has spent her entire WNBA career in Phoenix.

Last season, Griner was the Mercury’s second-leading scorer (17.8 points per game) behind Kahleah Copper (21.1 points per game). Griner led the team in rebounds (6.6) and blocks (1.5). Phoenix was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the eventual championship runner-up, the Minnesota Lynx.

The WNBA free agency market opened Tuesday (January 21) and free agents can officially sign with teams on February 1.

The Phoenix Mercury are fourth in salary cap space ($798,966) behind WNBA expansion team Golden State Valkyries ($1,116,962), Connecticut ($1,116,162) and Chicago Sky ($923,625). $), according to Spotrac.

Griner still follows the Phoenix Suns on Instagram.
