Draymond Hilariously Explains Viral Christmas Day Foul Against Lakers originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Green Draymond recently delivered one of the most entertaining moments of the 2024-25 NBA season, suplexing two opponents in the Warriors’ Christmas Day loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, according to Green, there was much more than what appeared on the surface, as the Warriors forward explained his reasoning for the bizarre sequence during a segment of “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.”
“So for real, my favorite referee (Scott Foster) is on the baseline. During the box-out, they hang their arms in front of me, which you can’t do. It’s illegal. Like they were connecting and holding arms,” Green said. “I’m like, ‘Scott! They can’t do that!’ Scott says, “Hey! Unlock the arms. You can’t do that.” So they unlock the arms, then they start to bring their arms together. Can’t do that!”
So, you know me. I think quickly. If their arms are connected, if you run into their arms, that’s actually a foul for them. So I just alerted Scott twice, he sees they’re hugging, so I go. I take a small step back, charge my run, then just try to take off running into their arms. “Scott, you (see) their arms were locked, you’re not going to report? » So I’m like, “Oh, they haven’t reported yet, I need to do more to get this foul.” »

“So I make more contact with him. Scott whistles and says, ‘Double foul. No, foul on you. Shoot a free throw.’ I’m like, ‘What is Scott?’ He says, “I don’t know what it should be, but I know you made a mistake, whatever.” I’m like, ‘Scott, but you just saw them hook their arms!’ He said, ‘Draymond, that’s definitely a mistake on your part.’ “
“Do you think it wasn’t a fault on your part?” asked Green’s co-host, Baron Davis.
“No, it was definitely a mistake on my part, of course,” Green replied. “But it was just a mistake on my part, because he missed the first mistake when I rushed into their arms.”
Green, one of the NBA’s most cerebral players, was on a roll, looking to exploit an obscure rule in his favor while attempting to foul. However, after Foster’s decision, the four-time NBA champion will have to settle for the exceptional story resulting from the fiasco rather than the foul he was originally seeking.
