No. 5 Texas dominates No. 12 Clemson in their first-round College Football Playoff game, with a 28-10 halftime lead.

THE LonghornsThe offense was relentless, racking up nearly 300 total yards and averaging eight yards per play. They scored touchdowns on four of their six possessions in the first half, repeatedly exposing a Clemson defense that seemed overwhelmed and out of sync. Missed tackles and poor running adjustments – a season-long problem under coordinator Wes Goodwin – were once again glaring.

Clemson’s only touchdown came on its first drive, but the Tigers couldn’t keep the momentum going. Even when they made a big play, it backfired. RJ Mickens picked off Quinn Ewers and returned it for a touchdown in the second quarter, but a blind block by Tre Williams wiped out the score. Clemson settled for a field goal instead, wasting a chance to close the gap.

Texas closed the half with another touchdown after a dropped interception by Avieon Terrell, capitalizing on missed opportunities and Clemson errors. The Tigers need a significant turnaround to avoid a short playoff stay.
