Warriors fans write ‘thank you’ letter to outgoing season ticket rep Don Moffett originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

After 26 seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Don Moffett, one of the organization’s Season Ticket Service representatives, is retiring later this week.

During his nearly three-decade tenure with the Warriors, Don left an indelible impression on countless fans, including members of the Season Ticket.

One family, in particular, wanted to recognize Don’s lasting legacy:

Dear Uncle Don,

The Golden State Warriors organization is filled with incredible individuals who contribute to the team’s success on and off the court. And even though the Warriors are now a world-famous brand with four (4) NBA championships in the last decade and a few first-ballot Hall of Famers, when my dad and I look back on our last 15 years of subscription . holders, our friend Don Moffett is by far the highlight of our Warriors experience.

While many other season ticket holders are also fortunate to know Don Moffett’s name, his impact on our Warriors experience has been nothing short of profound. From the moment our seats fell into Don’s care, he went above and beyond to provide exceptional service; he never just shopped around at Oracle or Chase when he stopped by to see me and my dad, instead he focused on creating an amazing experience for us.

Don has a rare combination of qualities that make him truly special. His passion and enthusiasm for the Warriors is contagious, and the enthusiasm he brought to every game, as he moved around the arena, was evident in every hand he shook and every conversation he had. he had. He always went the extra mile to make sure my dad and I had access to the most unique experiences and exclusive events. One particular memory stands out: our visit to the Warriors locker room for my father’s birthday.

As a 17 year old it can be difficult to find ways to make your dad’s birthday special, but Don had spent time building a relationship with me where I felt comfortable having him contact separately to find out how we could achieve this. arrive. When I look back on my request, I cringe at how little advice I gave Don and I feel extremely grateful for his willingness to listen to me. Don didn’t fail to keep his promises, my dad got a special birthday message on the jumbotron, and we also got an exclusive tour of the Warriors locker room. Two of Don’s most admirable qualities were on display here: first, his dedication to creating an exceptional experience for season ticket holders was evident; and secondly, his kindness and compassion shone through when he helped his son make his father’s birthday truly memorable.

Most importantly, Don Moffett is a remarkable human being. He means more to us than just being a fundamental part of our Warriors season ticket holder experience; he is and always will be a trusted friend. In many ways, family birthdays, graduations, first jobs and business deals were all shared with Don, as my father and I came to Oracle Arena, and then Chase Center, to celebrate these important steps. I will always remember Don who took a sincere interest in the events of our lives and was one of our greatest supporters as we reached new heights and milestones. Conversely, I’ve always loved hearing about Don’s more recent travels and stories, while hoping that one day I’ll be able to experience a fraction of the world he knew.

While the Warriors organization is blessed with many talented people, not seeing Don Moffett walk through the Chase Center on a game day will be an unfamiliar and bittersweet sight for me and my father. Without a doubt, Don also has a strong network of Warriors friends and family who will also miss him with the same level of sadness. Regardless, we will all remember the positive impact his character and warmth had on everyone he interacted with over the past 25 years he was with the Warriors.

To Don, enjoy your retirement, may it be filled with many friends, family, new travels, and even better stories and experiences. And from my father and I: thank you for all the memories, the photos, the unforgettable experiences, the laughter, the thoughtfulness and the genuine kindness you have shown us. You truly gave us a once-in-a-lifetime Warriors experience, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

Happy retirement to you, Don. And as always, Go Dubs!

Sincerely,

Steve and Tyler Wong
