As tennis enters its very short off-season, it is an opportunity to look back on ATP And WTA The biggest storylines, surprises and moments from the Tour in 2024, plus the niche moments the sport can produce like no other.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz took control of men’s tennis, while Novak Djokovic eventually won Olympic gold. Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek battled for the world No. 1 spot, with Sabalenka finishing the year at the top of the rankings. Jasmine Paolini, Zheng Qinwen and Emma Navarro appeared among the top 10 players; Taylor Fritz and Jessica Pegula waved the final Grand Slam flag for the United States
It was also a year of retirements – among them Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal – and controversy, as doping cases rocked the end of both tours after Sinner and Swiatek tested positive.
