LSU men’s basketball will play the remainder of the 2024-25 season without one of its key forwards.
On Wednesday, Tigers head coach Matt McMahon announced that Jalen Reed suffered torn ACL in right knee during the opening minutes of Tuesday’s win over Florida State.
“We are devastated for Jalen as he has worked extremely hard to prepare for his junior year,” McMahon said. “He is an absolute joy to coach and has earned the role of captain with his teammates. We hope Jalen makes a full recovery and continues his successful basketball career.”
The junior forward ranks second on the team in rebounds per game with 6.5 while scoring 11.1 points per game. He started every game this season as well as 20 games. Reed started 20 of 32 games last season, averaging 7.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
The Jackson, MS native played for Oak Hill Academy in Virginia in high school before transferring to the school in Santa Clarita, CA. In the 2022 class, Reed was a four-star prospect, ranking 45th overall and 7th among power forwards by On3.
