Valentin Barco could see his loan for a season at Seville ended in January due to a lack of playing time.
The Argentina international joined the La Liga team at the start of the 2024/25 campaign after the first Premier League season at Brighton in 2023/24.
The Seagulls opted to send Barco on loan to Andalusia, with their left-back options covered, and give the 20-year-old a bigger first-team chance.
However, the deal has not worked out for either party, with Barco having played just 376 minutes for Sevilla since August.
Only three starts in the league, none of which since September, highlight his lack of involvement and discussions about a quick return are expected according to the transfer expert. Fabrizio Romano.
Sevilla don’t have a buy option on Barco, and they could offload him, with no European action for the club this season, and Brighton may have to rethink their long-term plan for the former Boca Juniors defender .
