Ohio State football I will beat the 4-5 Northwest Wildcats SATURDAY. He should dominate in his penultimate game of the season, but no game against an opponent should be considered a layup.
The 8-1 Buckeyes need to keep their foot on the gas, and against Northwestern, there’s one thing they need to do to win by a wide margin.
That one thing is slowing down Wildcats starting quarterback Jack Lausch, who threw for 250 yards and a touchdown against the Boilermakers in Northwestern’s last game on Nov. 2.
Lausch has thrown for over 200 yards in three of the Wildcats’ four wins this season, and in two of their last three games he has failed to crack the top 100. He has been key to their offense this season.
In those two games where he failed to reach 100 yards, the Wildcats were outscored by a combined 63-17. Ohio State should have no problem limiting him as they have had one of the most dominant defenses in the country over the last few months.
The Buckeyes will have a significant advantage in the trenches, and they should be able to put pressure on Lausch that he hasn’t seen yet this season. Northwestern has yet to have a top-three rusher this season.
Stop Lausch and you win the game easily. Expect Day to think the same thing on Saturday.
